The newest MMA promotion on the block is the Global Fight League (GFL), which first launched at the start of 2025 but has yet to host a fight card.
However, they have finally been granted a promoter’s licence by the Californian State Athletic Commission, meaning they are able to host an event.
The GFL are aiming to hold their debut events on the 24 and 25 of May 2025 at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles and have already signed a host of well-known faces in the world of MMA, including Tony Ferguson, Paige VanZant, Luke Rockhold, and Uriah Hall.
Some fights that are set to feature on the debut shows include Tony Ferguson vs Dillon Danis, Uriah Faber vs Ranan Barao, Douglas Lima vs Uriah Hall and Benson Henderson vs Anthony Pettis.
The promotion focuses on giving experienced fighters the chance to prove they still have the skill and technique necessary to compete in MMA before they retire, which is unlike any other promotion that had a mix of younger and older fighters.
The GFL also promises to share 50% of each event revenue with their athletes and also aims to prioritise the health and wellness of their fighters.
So, with a host of big names featuring within this organisation, it could soon become a force within the world of MMA.
